Dr Paolo D’Ambrosio completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales, graduating with Class I academic honours. Following medical school, he completed physician and cardiology advanced training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. He then undertook 2 sub-speciality fellowships in interventional cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac device implantation, spending 3 years at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and 2 years at Royal Melbourne Hospital. His training included mentorship from leading experts in the field, such as Prof. Jonathan Kalman and Prof. Mark McGuire. He also holds a graduate diploma in cardiac electrophysiology, has presented at both national and international conferences, and authored numerous peer-reviewed publications.
Dr D’Ambrosio maintains an active role in clinical research, with his work focusing on arrhythmias associated with endurance exercise. He has a special interest in managing arrhythmias in athletes and highly active individuals. He is highly skilled in all atrial fibrillation ablation techniques, including pulsed field ablation, and performs ablations for all types of simple and complex cardiac arrhythmias. He also implants all types of cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators, including conduction system pacing.
Outside of work, Dr. D’Ambrosio enjoys spending time with his wife and their two children. He likes to cycle and run and is a keen (albeit very amateur) surfer.
